    Human Capital Investment in Entrepreneurship

In ASEAN and MALAYSIA, we need to be prepared for a rapidly changing, increasingly interconnected and technologically rich world where there will be many new opportunities.  There will also be disruption across many industries, demanding greater career flexibility. By the end of 2019 – it marks the expiry of industry 4.0. The coming of year 2020 and beyond is the start of society 5.0 powered by the 5th industrial revolution. Modern age entrepreneurs must not only be book smart and curious, but have the “soul” or conscience to know right from wrong; they must have the ethics and integrity to pursue values for the betterment of society.   In 2011, futurist Thomas Frey predicted that 60 per cent of the jobs in the future have not yet been invented. Hence, we can no longer focus on equipping young entrepreneurs for specialised careers or businesses. Career paths are becoming more flexible and we need to change expectations of what a person’s “career”, or “careers”, will look like. Of course, we need specialists and academics, but businesses need employees with a broad range of skills and experience that can help them to creatively adapt to technology-rich environments. Young people need that range of skills so that they can move between careers. Today’s most successful entrepreneurs are those who pursue both economic and social values, who create not only wealth but also a wealth of opportunities for others. Entrepreneurship education is a vital part of the overall curriculum.   Currently as most part of the world are labouring through COVID-19 pandemic, we have witnessed that businesses that have invested heavily in human capital development are able to pivot and survive the harsh economic landscape, and businesses who did not – perish.   Human Capital investments is pertinent to the successful of companies especially newly-founded companies. On that point, physician and writer Dr George W. Crane makes this assertion: “There is no future in any jobs, the future lies in the person who holds the job”. Human Capital in entrepreneurship is a largely neglected area and one which is one of the most important criteria for a business longevity. Please join us with our guest speaker – Dr. Kris See, to gain insights into how human capital investments in entrepreneurship journey lies the key to the success of future of workplace.

    What is digital Asset?

Does the word digital asset sound familiar to you? A simple definition of a digital asset is that it is a collection of binary data which is self-contained, uniquely identifiable and has a value. At their core, digital assets are the visual representation of your products, services, culture and, ultimately, your brand. As the key drivers of online engagement, digital assets represent the connection between your company and your customers, and give you the ability to interact with them in the way they like, when they like and also where they like. Digital assets have become the essential tools of brand loyalty, with every single digital interaction coming back to visuals and copy. But, your assets are only valuable if they can be found and used efficiently. I believe most of the people have heard of digital marketing, Facebook marketing and the list goes on. However, by using these channels are you really creating value for your brand? The question is what is Digital Asset and how to constantly create value for it. Just a brief introduction about our speaker Shoant Teoh, the CEO of TanTanNews where he founded the social news portal in 2012. TanTanNews managed to reach seven million monthly unique visitors, generating 20 million monthly pageviews at its peak and was later invested by Media Prima Digital in 2019. Shoant has co-founded several businesses including website development and lighting. He has recently started building MOpress.io, an AI-publishing and content creator platform.
